Personalized Search in Googleland

SEO - Search Engine OptimizationA bit of buzz out there today (Saturday buzz, no less), courtesy of Danny Sullivan and SearchEngineLand, about the move by Google to make personalized search the default option when searching. As Gord Hotchkiss suggests on his Gord blog, the move is not entirely unexpected and then he plunges into the debate on whether SEO is a scam or a legitimate part of the marketing toolset.

As you can see from the nicely-arranged series of eMarketer stats on Gord’s blog, SEO provides a terrific ROI. The conundrum is how to ‘SEO’ for personal search… is it possible? Is this the new ’social algorithm’ for Google?
