ADSDAQ Exchange Coverage at Search Engine Strategies

Search Engine Strategies and ADSDAQ from WebProNewsMonday’s panel at Search Engine Strategies on advertising exchanges - including ADSDAQ - was well-received. Recaps and interviews by media and bloggers at the conference in San Jose, California, have been steadily appearing. Here’s a selection:

Jason Lee Miller from WebProNews covered the panel and included quotes from participants including Jay Sears of ContextWeb:

… ad exchange companies are betting on the overflow into the long tail, even if panelist Jay Sears, of ContextWeb, admits the “long tail is perceived as a scary place” where there is little control of where ads appear and where impressions are wasted when paired with irrelevant content.

…”ADSDAQ is turning the long tail into a clean, well-lit place for advertisers,” said Sears.

Mr. Miller adds:

“While much of publisher-advertiser matching is automated, ad exchanges allow for a certain level of advertiser and publisher control. The publisher sets an asking price for ad space, and the advertiser sets a bid price for specific inventory. (And one would imagine advertisers can block or reject as well.)”

Later in the day, WebProNews’ Abby Prince ‘coralled’ Jay for a video interview in which Jay describes one of ADSDAQ’s key points of differentiation - premium inventory - in the competitive, ad exchange landscape which includes Yahoo!’s Right Media (led by Michael Walrath), Google’s Doubleclick AdX Exchange and Bill Urschel’s AdECN - recently purchased by Microsoft:

Chris Boggs of Search Engine Roundtable offers start-to-finish coverage of the ad exchange panel which was entitled “Ad Exchanges Are Changing Everything” and moderated by Kevin Ryan, the new Vice President and Global Content Director of Search Engine Strategies and Search Engine Watch.

They call ADSDAQ “inside Sales for the long tail.” It allows for real time decision to be made by the network whenever the ad is triggered, either sending them to the desired premium location or to a backup.
